Eligibility

Early-career MANA members presenting research that highlights metabolomics and/or lipidomics at the Metabolomics Society annual conference. Requires MANA membership (distinct from Metabolomics Society membership).

TBD 2027 (2026 pattern: announced by MANA in the spring ahead of the June Society conference — the 2024 call was posted 2024-03-20)

Application Requirements

Competitive application judged on research distinction, abstract quality and a personal statement; reviewed by the MANA Awards Committee. Submit to awards@metabolomicsna.org with the award name and applicant name in the subject line.

Notes

Allowed one travel award per year; cannot receive the award at two consecutive society conferences in a row. As an affiliate/sponsor award it cannot be combined with a Metabolomics Society travel award (Society rule: one award only, from the Society OR an affiliate/sponsor).

Location: 2027: TBD — the Metabolomics Society has announced the meeting but date and place are not yet confirmed. 2026: Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina (Buenos Aires Convention Center, Av. Pres. Figueroa Alcorta 2099)

Research match: Primary society meeting for Wishart's field; he has been an International Metabolomics Society member since 2006. Conference themes are Technological Advances; Computational Metabolomics, Statistics and Bioinformatics; Metabolomics in Health and Disease; and Metabolomics of Food, Plants, Environment and Microbes — a direct map onto NMR/MS metabolomics, the HMDB/NP-MRD/MiMeDB/PathBank/MetaboAnalyst database and tool portfolio, cancer biomarkers, precision medicine, and environmental/nutritional metabolomics. Wishart also sits on the EBI-MetaboLights board, which is embedded in this community.
